Classification of websites

Websites are mainly classified on the basis of 3 factors that are Layout, design and Purpose / Functionality.      

On the basis of layouts:

1. Fixed design layout

In fixed design layout the height, width and size of the content gets fixed and it didn’t support different sizes of screens. On small size screens, the texts and images gets displaced from its original positions and gives a bad user experience.

2. Liquid/fluid design layout

In this design layout, the size of content gets reduced with respect to reduced screen size. The view of design doesn’t changes with change in screen size. 

This layout based websites gives batter experience than fixed design layout, but on small screens sometimes the contents are not visible properly.

5. Social media Website

6. Content management system(CMS)

 Among web professionals, “web development” usually refers to the main non-design aspects of building web sites: writing markup and coding.
